This is state college’s only lgbt (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans) bar and while it’s small it is friendly, and the staff are very nice. Remember to double check your return email address or your phone number if you prefer to be called. The manager ellen has become lazy about her job and bitter towards the gay male clientele. The space itself definitely has a little bit of a “trapped in the closet” type of feel with its lack of windows and small size (it gets crowded super fast and seating can be hard to snag during busy hours), but the crowd, the rainbow flag right on college ave, great drinks, and cozy atmosphere make it sooo worthwhile.

I am glad that i had a hand in what was a great era from 1974- to 1980 when i returned to atlantic city to work for my uncle at the chez paree. Of all the bar hopping we did during our long weekend, this place was in my top three favorite bars. Chumley’s has an enjoyable neighborhood-feel for those who identify with the lgbtq and allied communities.
